These months leading up until spring can be a long and gloomy time for so many of us, especially if we are by ourselves. This time of year, we have the biggest attendance at our activities because people are wanting to socialize and be active, but the weather prevents a lot of residents from leaving the building. To compensate for the lack of outings our residents are partaking in, we jazzed up our indoor activities!
One recent addition has been our “Armchair Travels”, our residents get to experience a guided tour of a whole new country and culture without ever leaving. Then our Food Service team prepares exotic cultural foods based on the country being featured!
Another fun addition is that we started playing older sitcoms in our theater at movie times, shows like “I Love Lucy”, “Golden Girls”, and some westerns. We are always finding new ways to engage our residents and staff. There are many perks to being a part of Somerset Court, but so many residents agree that the best perk this time of year is the people!
